Teach Your Children to Play Piano
How to Teach Your Children to Play the Piano
It seems universal that parents want the very best for their children, especially regarding education. Piano lessons are a rich experience outside of a child’s academic education that only requires a piano (or keyboard!), time, extra materials, and tuition. Tuition is typically the factor that separates those children who get piano lessons from those who do not.
Affordable and Flexible Piano Lessons
Unfortunately, piano lessons aren’t available to many would-be students with great potential because tuition is too much for the family budget. This obstacle is something that I have always sought to change and have changed in comparison to my competition. Another hindrance I frequently see is that not everyone has room in their
schedules for carpools and weekly lesson appointments. I understand this because different families will have other priorities when it comes to extracurricular activities, even though I am a huge proponent of music.
How to Self-Teach Piano
If tuition expenses or scheduling issues keep your children from piano lessons, please know that there are workarounds that many families have discovered. I want to share these with you so your child can get the musical education you desire for them. I know from experience that they will thank you for music lessons when they are grown. Do you play piano but don’t know how to teach piano to beginners or where to start with teaching? You don’t know how to play piano and can’t fathom teaching it yourself? No worries. This is for you, too. I’m on a mission to teach the world to play the piano. Not only that, but I want those pianists to have the tools they need in order to share that gift with others.
Long before the pandemic struck, I was teaching one-third of my students virtually. I have put all my beginner lessons–the first full year of lessons–in an online learning format. I’ve provided those students with videos, graphics, assignments, sheet music, and lots of instructions.
While this program is written and produced for children, I have high school and college students bingeing on several months of learning all at once. They are mastering the fundamentals of piano in record time.
How to Become a Piano Teacher
Some piano parents have told me they’re learning right along with their children.
So, how do you teach your children to play the piano? You can learn the lessons yourself before turning around and teaching your children, or you can use my lessons and adapt them. Of course, you will learn the most by doing and teaching, but this way, you can individualize the lessons for each of your children.
Like I said, you don’t even have to know how to play piano first; just learn right alongside your kids.
Why I Think You Should Accept This Challenge
I have fond memories of learning to crochet with my grandma, riding horses with my grandpa, and baking bread with my mother. Those people are all gone now, but the good feelings I have in memory of those learning experiences are something that I hope to share with your family.
Can you envision your child being able to play music because you taught them how to play? They might be adults before their appreciation is fully realized. Still, the seeds you plant now will provide many feelings of love and connection that could extend for generations into the future.
