Piano Lessons During School Hours
Can you teach piano lessons during school hours?
Once my small group classes incorporated more of my after-school wait list for piano lessons, I went and found Home and Charter schools to teach for during the day.
This was a hard system to figure out 20 years ago but it is super simple now. 20 years ago each alternative school had a clunky time-consuming process to become a vendor.
Fast forward and today most Home or Charter schools have easy onboarding systems for new vendors and simple checklists to complete.
Currently, I am an accredited teacher for many charter schools.
But you don’t even have to be an accredited teacher.
You can sign up to teach by proving you’re currently teaching piano and then get offered to thousands of students as a piano teacher in your local area. Where I teach, there are many Home and Charter schools to choose from.
Make your lessons stand out. Be creative in the curriculum choices. Anything creative or beyond the standard methods used by everyone helps you stand out. Do you offer lots of recitals each year? Do you have a summer camp option? What about composing music classes? Share what you’re passionate about and it attracts like-minded students and families.
Charter and home school kids love small groups. It feeds the need for social experiences beyond what they do independently at home. Grouping beginners together makes for friendships and classes that encourage and inspire one another. This also helps you retain them from year to year.
A bonus of this approach is that most of these schools pay for the student’s lessons directly. I only submit billing by the semester which makes it simple and easy.
Go find a Home or Charter school to begin teaching at earlier hours in your day and build your experience in small group lessons now!
